Privacy Policy

Anschutz Media, Inc. (we or "Anschutz Media") operates an Internet-based health information and communication service named Uphealth that includes a software application and web site (collectively the "Service").

Uphealth is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy will tell you what information is gathered about you, how that information is used, with whom it is shared, and how to contact us if you have additional questions or concerns. You are urged to read this Privacy Policy carefully.

Protecting the Privacy of Children and Teens

Children and teens should always get permission from their parents before sending any information about themselves (such as their names, email addresses, or phone numbers) over the Internet, to Anschutz Media or to anyone else. The Service is not directed at children or teens under 18 and Anschutz Media does not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to provide us with any personally identifying information; if you are under 18, please do not provide any information about yourself to the Service.

Information Gathered and How It is Used

Information gathered online can generally be categorized as either anonymous or personally identifiable. Anonymous information is information that cannot be traced back to a specific individual. For example, Anschutz Media knows how many people visited the home page on the Uphealth web site each day but does not know the names, email addresses or phone numbers of the people visiting. Personally identifiable information is information which allows Uphealth to identify you. This information can include your name, address, phone number, email address, etc. Anschutz Media believes that you will find it beneficial to provide the Service with certain personal information at times so that your experience is more personally relevant to you and/or delivered the way you want (e.g., via email).

Who Collects Anonymous Information

Currently, Anschutz Media, DoubleClick (Uphealth's ad server and a division of Google) and various other advertisers collect anonymous information on the Service. These are Anschutz Media's partners. Information collected includes the visitor's domain name (e.g. whether the user is logged on from facebook.com or whitehouse.gov), referral data (e.g., the address of the last URL a user visited prior to clicking through to the Uphealth web site), and browser and platform type (e.g., Chrome browser on an Android smartphone).

In addition, Anschutz Media and other partners collect anonymous information on application screens and web pages viewed, which is generally associated with a browser's cookie (see below for more on cookies). Anschutz Media also counts, tracks and aggregates visitors' activity into analyses of general traffic flows on company applications and company web sites (e.g. tracking where traffic comes from, how traffic flows within the Anschutz Media properties, etc.). FINALLY, ANSCHUTZ MEDIA COLLECTS ANONYMOUS INFORMATION ON THE BEHAVIOR DETAILS THAT USERS PROVIDE TO THE SERVICE.

To these ends, information about you may be merged into group data, which may then be shared on an aggregated basis with our advertisers or partners; but Anschutz Media will not disclose your individual identity or personal data without your permission. When Anschutz Media does present aggregated information to outside companies, no one will be able to identify or contact you.

The entities collecting this anonymous information use it to improve the overall quality of experience on the Service, including product monitoring and improvement, and targeted advertising on and off the Service.

If you wish to opt-out of the use of anonymous data gathered by Anschutz Media, you can opt-out of this practice by following these two steps: (1) disable cookies on all systems using the Service, although this may negatively affect your experience on the Service; (2) never use the Facts or Tips functions, as anonymous data is gathered here by Anschutz Media.

If you wish to opt-out of the use of anonymous data gathered by our partners, you can opt-out of this practice in one of two ways: (1) you can disable cookies, although this may negatively affect your online experience as many web sites require cookies for basic browsing; (2) you can opt-out of data use with each individual partner through the Network Advertising Initiative gateway opt-out website available here: http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/. At that website, you can also review the privacy policies of the ad servers referred to above. For users wishing to prevent use of their information for targeted advertising, opting out of Google is recommended.

Use of ‘Cookies’

Anschutz Media and its partners use browser cookies to anonymously associate collected information with a specific computer browser. Cookies are a standard Internet technology that allow both storing and retrieving information on a user's system. Anschutz Media and partner web servers automatically ask new users whether their browser will agree to accept a cookie file. If a visitor accepts, the web server will be able to identify the user's cookie and associate collected information with that cookie either on the user's computer or on a server. If a user accepts an Anschutz Media or partner cookie, but would later like to remove it from his or her computer, he or she can just remove it from the browser. Use of cookies allows Anschutz Media and its partners to monitor traffic flow, patterns of travel within and through websites, and to personalize content and advertising dynamically.

Web Beacons

Some Uphealth web pages use web beacons in conjunction with cookies to compile aggregate statistics about web site usage. A web beacon is an electronic image, called an action tag, or single pixel (1x1) or clear GIF. Web beacons enable Anschutz Media or a partner to place or read a cookie (subject to the user's permission per the above section), as well as to collect the time and date of a screen or page view, and a description of the page where the web beacon is placed. Users have the option to render some web beacons unusable by rejecting their associated cookies.

Third-Party Media Companies

We may use third-party advertising companies and networks to serve ads. These third-party ad servers and network providers may use web beacons and cookies to help present, better target and measure the effectiveness of their advertisements, using non-personally identifiable data (such as websites visited and browser type) gathered over time and across their networks of web pages to determine or predict the characteristics and preferences of their audience. If you would like more information about this practice, as well as your choices about not having this information used for online behavioral advertising by these ad networks, please visit the following web site: http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/.

Our sponsors and advertisers have agreed that they will not collect any personally identifiable information from our web site visitors while they are on the Service. If you click on an advertisement on the Service and visit a web site maintained by one of our sponsors or advertisers, please be aware that Anschutz Media is not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. You should read the privacy policies of each web site you visit to determine what information that web site may be collecting about you.

Personally Identifiable Information

Anschutz Media collects personally identifiable information that you provide when you sign up for Uphealth and/or when you request Uphealth content to be sent. We use the personally identifiable information that you supply to provide you with the specific services you select and to send you emails about web site maintenance and updates, which may include new features and enhanced functionality.

Personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties unless Anschutz Media has your permission to do so. Anschutz Media occasionally sponsors sweepstakes, contests or other events that require the collection, processing and storage of individual contact and demographic information that may or may not be shared with participating sponsors. A registrant's personal contact and demographic information will not be released to third-party or non-participating organizations without the user's consent, and Anschutz Media will request that co-sponsors of such events maintain the privacy of the registrants' information.

When appropriate, users will be given the opportunity to receive information from third-party organizations in connection with services or events offered by Anschutz Media. This option may be made available through the Service and/or through registration processes maintained by a participating third-party. In all cases, you will be informed before you register for the event or service that a third party will be receiving the registration information you provide, and you will have the option not to participate in any service or event that requires third party involvement.

Anschutz Media does not make a practice of de-identifying personal information on any kind of regular schedule.

With Whom Do We Share Information?

Anschutz Media does not provide third-party access to your personal information except in the aggregate and only after the information has been de-identified. The information will be in the form of grouped statistics compiled from on-service behavior and users' responses to other users. Anschutz Media will not disclose the contact information of any individual user to advertisers or any other outside organization without the express permission of the individual. Anschutz Media may use a third-party company to serve ads when you use the Service. This company may use certain information (not including your name, address, email address or telephone number) about your visit to the Service to provide advertisements to our web site, and a third-party advertiser may place or recognize a unique cookie on your system.

Anschutz Media does not work with third-parties to "append" information to the personal information Anschutz Media collects (e.g., to append age or gender based on a user's email address). Anschutz Media stores the information it collects on its servers and employs industry-recognized security measures to protect it. On an irregular basis, Anschutz Media does employ third-parties to verify and audit its security measures.

Email Choice/Opt-Out

Each email newsletter, reminder and special offer sent by Anschutz Media contains an easy, automated way for you to cease receiving such messages. A single reply is all that is required -- the system automatically excludes you from future mailings without needing additional human intervention. To unsubscribe, write "unsubscribe" in the subject line when replying to any email newsletter, reminder or special offer from Anschutz Media. Anschutz Media will not rent, sell or barter your email address to third parties, nor will it share your name with marketing partners unless you request third-party offers to be sent from Anschutz Media.

User Research

Occasionally Anschutz Media will make aggregated results from research it has conducted on the Service available to potential advertisers and research firms. Again, Anschutz Media will only provide such information on an aggregated basis and does not disclose individual user information without their consent.

Other Terms and Conditions

By using the Service, you agree that your use and any dispute over data collection or privacy are governed by this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. The Service is intended for United States users only, and for those in some jurisdictions of Canada and the United Kingdom.
